This Is The Day (The Lord Hath Made)

Seperti yang udah diketahui oleh seluruh orang di dunia, tanggal 20 April kemaren, Prince William menikah dengan Catherine Elizabeth Middleton. Dan gue seperti kebanyakan orang lainnya juga ikutan mengikuti prosesi pernikahan mereka lewat tv. Terutama upacara pemberkatan di gereja.

Dari seluruh lagu yang dibawain di gereja, gue cuma tertarik sama satu lagu. Mungkin karena yang ngarang adalah John Rutter.

Buat anak paduan suara, nama John Rutter harusnya sudah tidak asing lagi. Banyak lagu-lagu dia yang emang enak banget untuk dinyanyiin SATB. Favorit gue sejauh ini adalah "The Lord Bless You And Keep You", "All Things Brigh And Beautiful", "For The Beauty of The Earth", dan "A Clare Benediction". Gue suka dengan lagu-lagu itu mungkin karena itu adalah lagu yang gue pelajari pertama kali.

Seperti yang udah gue tulis di postingan sebelumnya, lagu "This Is The Day (The Lord Hath Made) merupakan permintaan Dean of Westminster sebagai hadian bagi the royal couple. Dan gue langsung jatuh cinta dengan lagu ini.

Lagu ini dinyanyikan pada saat di gereja, sesudah bacaan. Iseng nyari di youtube dan ketemu videonya...so...enjoy :)

Masih berhubungan dengan Toy Story. Biasanya gue enggak suka soundtrack-nya Toy Story. Berbeda dengan film-film Disney lainnya yang penuh dengan musik-musik indah, film-film Disney-Pixar biasanya lebih banyak musik-musik score. Nah gue juga enggak gitu suka sama lagu-lagunya Randy Newman, meskipun gue cukup suka dengan lagu Toy Story yang "You've Got A Friend In Me", tapi dibandingkan lagu di Toy Story 3 gue lebih suka lagu yang baru.

Tapi sebenernya yang menarik gue adalah lagunya Buzz hahaha...lagu "You've Got A Friend In Me" yang versi bahasa Spanyol. Keren banget! Dan kemudian gue baru ngeh kalo di Toy Story 3 ini, Randy Newman juga bikin lagu baru "We Belong Together" yang nadanya lebih ringan dengan musik lebih ceria, dan lirik yang enggak kalah dalam dengan lagu sebelumnya. Mungkin enggak gitu ngeh karena gue sibuk nangis waktu lagu nya main, or keburu kepotong sama lagunya Buzz? :D

Anyway, denger lagu "We Belong Together" sambil baca liriknya mau enggak mau bikin gue keinget lagi sama tuh film dan air mata kembali mengalir...hieh...bener-bener deh...

I'm A Woman

Lagi tergila-gila dengan lagu "I'm A Woman" dari soundtrack Sex & The City 2. Gonna watch that movie this Saturday with Gerrie. YES!!

So...seperti biasa, denger lagu ini pertama kali gue cuek aja. Gue cuma ngeh kalo ini lagu dinyanyikan oleh Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, dan Samantha, jadi ya suaranya gitu deh hahaha...gak jelek, cuma ya keliatan kalo bukan penyanyi profesional. Jadi mirip kalo karaoke. Yah berhubung gue belum liat filmnya jadi ya gue enggak tahu mereka lagi ngapain.

Ngedengerin lagu ini kedua kali, baru deh gue ngeh.

Really LOVE the lyric!! Setelah berkonsultasi ke om Wikipedia, ternyata ini lagu lama, "I'm A Woman" dinyanyikan oleh Helen Reddy tahun 70-an gitu, dan lagu ini kemudian menjadi semacam theme song untuk gerakan perempuan (women liberation istilahnya kalo gak salah), dan emang pantas.

Ini lagu dari pertunjukkan Broadway, Wicked, berdasarkan buku karangan Gregory Maguire; Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.

Soal pertunjukkan Broadwaynya, Wicked, dah pernah gue bahas di postingan yang lalu-lalu. Judulnya Wicked, silakan mampir :)

Sedangkan untuk bukunya... hm... rasanya udah pernah dibahas, tapi lupa ditaro di mana...nanti coba di cari deh ya...

Anyway, baru aja mengunduh album David Burnham yang pernah berperan jadi Fiyero, salah satu tokoh utama di Wicked. Dari segi suara...David ini suaranya mirip lah dengan John Barrowman maupun Daniel Boys; agak keras, dengan artikulasi yang jelas, tapi tanpa memberi kesan teriak. Mungkin memang ini ciri khas penyanyi Broadway kali ya, karena mereka harus bisa 'bercakap-cakap' melalui nyanyian mereka. Lalu...apa bedanya dengan penyanyi opera? Ada yang bisa bantu? Dito... :)

So...di salah satu lagu David Burnham di albumnya itu, ada judul lagu "As Long As You're Mine" yang dinyanyikan duet dan begitu pertama kali denger selintas, langsung menarik hati dan menempel di telinga. There's something about the way they sing, the melody, and the lyric. Terutama di bagian refrain.

Setelah beberapa kali denger, baru tadi cari liriknya dan jeng jeng jeng...langsung ngeh gue kenapa gue bisa tertarik. Ternyata lagunya Wicked! Lagu yang dinyanyiin sama Fiyero (perannya David Burnham) dan Elphaba.

Enggak cukup sekedar mencari liriknya, gue penasaran dengan pementasannya. Maka dibukalah youtube. Dan...well well well...gue menemukan bahwa ADAM LAMBERT pernah menjadi Fiyero!! He was an understudy for Fiyero. Dan dia pernah berperan sebagai Fiyero! OMG!!! Makes me more and more in love with Wicked AND Adam Lambert!! Who knew!?!

So...gue kasih denger 3 versi. Versi rekaman from original cast, versi David Burnham, dan versi Adam Lambert. Paling jernih jelas yang pertama, karena yang kedua dan ketiga merupakan rekaman video. Dan terakhir...untuk yang ingin mengunduh versi David Burnham...ini gue kasih linknya.

Radames' Letter merupakan salah satu lagu yang ada di drama musikal Broadway karya Elton John dan Tim Rice, AIDA. Lagu ini, dinyanyikan oleh Shania Twain, ada di album Elton John & Tim Rice' AIDA-concept album. Para penyanyinya semua bintang terkenal (pada saat itu setidaknya, 1999). Berhubung AIDA ini masih berhubungan dengan Disney, maka pada waktu itu, kasetnya (belum kenal CD waktu itu apalagi internet) ikutan gue beli dan gue lumayan jatuh cinta dengan beberapa lagu di dalamnya. Yang cukup terkenal pada waktu itu tentu "Written in the Stars" duetnya Elton John dengan LeAnn Rimes. Sekarang gue lagi nyari tuh albumnya. Udah ngubek-ngubek internet, masih belum dapet juga. Hm...time to hit the music store! hehehe...

Gue suka dengan ini lagu karena lagunya sederhana, kata-katanya dalam, dan musiknya pun juga sesuai. Inget banget waktu pertama kali denger nih lagu, gue begitu tertegun. Pas banget untuk yang pingin lagi pingin minta maaf :))

Judul aslinya sih seharusnya Radames' Letter, dinyanyikan oleh Radames (thus the title) untuk Aida...hm...let see if I can make it easier...

Menurut Wikipedia, Elton John & Tim Rice' AIDA ini berdasarkan cerita/opera Giuseppe Verdi, dengan judul yang sama yaitu AIDA. Kalo Verdi punya berbahasa Italia dan jenisnya opera, kalo Elton John & Tim Rice punya jenisnya rock musical dan tentunya berbahasa Inggris. Monggo mengunjungi wikipedia untuk lebih jelasnya ya. Yang pasti, ini musikal memang 'punya' Disney.

Ceritanya sendiri mengenai cinta segitiga antara Amneris (anak Firaun) - Radames (Kapten tentara Mesir, tunangan Amneris, calon pewaris Firaun; karena menikah dengan Amneris) - Aida (budak yang dihadiahkan untuk Amneris, yang ternyata adalah Princess of Nubia; bangsa yang saat itu dijajah Mesir).

Gue tadi dah baca ceritanya di wikipedia...sedih euy ceritanya...jadi silakan baca wikipedia aja ya untuk lebih jelasnya hehehe...

Dulu pernah nonton ada univ mana gitu yang nampilin musikal ini di GKJ, tapi hasilnya menurut gue kurang banget...jadi rada kecewa nontonya...mungkin bukan soal yang nyanyi tapi lebih ke masalah teknis. Duh mengganggu gue banget deh, jadi enggak enjoy nontonnya.

Tapi toh gue berhasil mendapatkan original Broadway Cast albumnya (kalo gak salah) jadi yah tinggal menggunakan imaginasi aja deh... :)

Tiap kali denger lagu ini atau instrumentnya, hati ini pasti langsung gimanaaa gitu...trenyuh dan air mata langsung merebak. Padahal belum pernah ada yang nyanyiin ini lagu ke gue secara pribadi. Gue cuma denger dan tau. Malah kalau boleh dibilang, gue "mencuri" ini lagu.

Awalnya, ini lagu favorite Sufei. Entah kenapa, pada suatu waktu gue minta dia untuk membacakan lirik lagunya (tentu dia sambil nyanyiin), sementara gue nyatet. Dan wow...pertama gue terkesima dengan liriknya. Kedua, gue terkesima dengan musiknya. Dan entah sudah berapa kali gue mendengarkan lagu ini berulang-ulang di MP3 player gue. Sampai-sampai gue menobatkan ini lagu sebagai my wedding song! Padahal rencana mau married juga enggak tahu kapan.

Hieh...lagu ini...kapan ya ada yang mempersembahkan lagu ini ke gue :)

A Claire Benediction - John Rutter

John Rutter, composer dari Inggris yang karya-karyanya udah gue kenal waktu SMP. Langsung terkesima dengan "The Lord Bless You And Keep You". Sayang banget gue gak sempet belajar tuh lagu, yang pasti tuh lagu dinyanyiin waktu Misa kelulusan gue SMP (kalo gak salah inget). Dan gue yang cuma mendengarkan dari jauh pun bisa terharu. Sejak itu, gue seperti tergila-gila dengan (nyaris) semua lagu Rutter.

A Claire Benediction, juga salah satu karya John Rutter dan gue mendapat kesempatan untuk belajar ini lagu pas di PSUT. Sayangnya, ini termasuk lagu yang tidak gue kuasai bagian alto-nya. Tapi meskipun begitu, ini lagu juga termasuk salah satu yang gue sukai.

Beberapa hari yang lalu, salah satu temen gue, Eric, mengenalkan gue (dan temen-temen yang lain) akan Polyphony, sebuah kelompok choir yang dibentuk tahun 1986, tapi seperti biasa para anggotanya pun terus berganti (maksudnya yang sekarang jadi penyanyi juga enggak tua-tua amat).

Atas rekomendasi Eric, yang memang bisa diandalkan karena Eric tuh punya kuping yang awas soal lagu-lagu klasik, maka gue pun "merengek-rengek" minta dikirimin tuh lagu. Sebenernya gue minta di burn-in sih...tapi berhubung bakal ketemu masih lama...Rabu-Kamis ketemu sih sebenernya hahaha...jadilah dikirimin by e-mail. Dan...betapa gue merinding ketika mendengarkan 3 lagu yang dikirim Eric. Suara mereka...ya ampun...bening, begitu lembut, namun penuh power, dan bikin gue bener-bener terberkati :)

Tiga lagu yang gue dengerin itu, cuma Away in a Manger yang familiar di kuping gue, sedangkan yang dua lagi (Magnificat dan O Magnum Mysterium) kurang. Tapi itu pun sudah berhasil membuat gue merinding.

lagu A Clare Benediction yang juga dikirim Eric, ternyata lupa dikirim ke gue, cuma dikirim ke Dito. Jadilah baru siang tadi di kirim Dito dan baru tadi gue denger. Dan ini sudah 60 kali lagu ini berputar...

Adek gue denger lagu ini pas waktu American Idol kemaren...dan gue penasaran makanya gue cari. Ternyata emang bagus...dan entah kenapa suasana hati gue malam ini sedang melankolis...tau-tau nangis...padahal gue lagi mikirin hal lain.

All That Jazz!!!

Gue tiba-tiba teringat akan musik jazz ketika lagi baca 'buku' Nora Roberts di PC. Gara-garanya, salah satu tokoh di buku itu ngasih komentar kalo dia suka semua jenis musik, kecuali jazz.

Dan gue mau enggak mau langsung tersenyum, because well...it's so like me!

Memang sih, enggak semua musik gue suka. Musik yang masuk aliran Rock hard core, jelas banget enggak gue suka. Jenis musik alternative pun enggak gue suka. Pokoknya musik yang bikin telinga gue sakit, baik karena terlalu banyak teriakan atau dentuman, maupun yang memang kata-katanya membuat gue merinding, enggak gue terima. Dangdut...well...tergantung ya. Kalo dangdut yang tralu gimana-gimana, wah...enggak juga deh. Tapi kalo dangdut yang kayang Goyang Duyu-nya Project Pop atau Pandangan Pertama-nya Chrisye, masih oke lah...tapi selain itu...well kudu di sensor kuping gue dulu.

Bisa dibilang, musik klasik adalah musik yang emang bener-bener gue coba pelajari untuk suka. Thanks to Ance, temen sebangku gue waktu SMP, gue belajar untuk tertarik mendengarkan lagu klasik. Dan ternyata ada gunanya juga :) Karena kemudian gue mencintai lagu klasik, meskipun tidak sampai setengah mati jatuh cintanya. Paling tidak, gue bisa menghargai lagu klasik dan gue tahu lagu klasik when I heard one.

Sedangkan jazz...well harus diakui, sampai tahun 2000, jazz termasuk dalam salah satu musik yang langsung dengan tegas gue tolak, gue cuekin, dan tidak pernah masuk dalam pertimbangan gue.

Karena gue kena batunya pas gue belajar nyanyi But Beautiful, bareng PSUT untuk konser amal bareng UNICEF.

I'm hooked and hooked and then love jazz.

Jazz itu buat gue termasuk musik yang sulit untuk dimengerti. Tidak seperti klasik yang (menurut gue waktu itu) tidak pernah berubah, yang selalu sudah ada ketukan/ritme yang pasti, jazz selalu berubah tergantung sama yang nynyi dan seringkali nada yang dinyanyiin itu minor. Sesuatu yang masih asing di telinga gue dan terdengar rumit. Jadi yah...gue gak suka jazz.

Seinget gue, intro piano-nya yang bikin gue suka. Dan begitu dinyayiin, gue juga kemudian ikutan suka. Sesudah itu, kuping gue seolah-olah diberikan kunci untuk mendengarkan lagu jazz. Sampai sekarang.

Memang harus gue akui juga, jazz yang gue dengerin bukan jazz yang berat. Bahkan Jamie Cullum bukan termasuk kategori jazz yang gue suka. Gue lebih suka jazz seperti Michael Buble, atau seperti yang kemaren baru gue unduh, Renee Olstead, atau untuk penyanyi yang lebih tua, seperti Laura Fygi. Jadi memang lebih ke arah jazz-pop or pop-jazz.

It's just funny, how your opinion about somethings can change just because some little things....

Gue suka banget sama lagu Lion Sleeps Tonight dari awal. Pertama kali denger nih lagu waktu dijadiin lagu iklan Panadol Kids. Sejak saat itu sering banget nyari nih lagu. Pernah denger or lihat pas lagi dinyanyiin sama Timon & Pumbaa from Disney' The Lion King.

Ini ada lagi dari Straight No Chaser. Masih dengan model a cappella dan tentu dengan suara yang KEREN abissss!!!!

Well...it's that time of the year again!!

Christmas time!!

Hahahaha I know it's not even Halloween...but since I (we) don't celebrate any Halloween or even Thanksgiving, and even it's still in October, some music store already showing up their Christmas music.

And...remember that I already downloaded Faith Hill's "Joy To The World" album and just got Kristin Chenoweth's "A Lovely Time To Spend Christmas" I'm beginning to feel Christmas is going to come sooner than later. And it help cooling down the weather for a little Anyway, as I wondered around Amazon, I realize that on 4th November there will be at least 2 albums going to be released and both of the albums are my favorite. Lea Salonga - Two Words

This is something I know from my cousin.

At first, she told me about the song. She just asked if I ever heard Lea Salonga's Two Words that she sang on her own wedding day. Since I never heard about it or even aware of the song, my cousin then gave the song. Listened to it couple of days later and well...I almost cried. Got teary eyed for sure.

Well...well...well...gue gak bisa ngomong apa-apa lagi deh...sepertinya Multiply.com bener-bener telah menutup akses untuk bisa donwload musik dari site dia...alhasil, gue jadi kehilangan sumber untuk bisa ber-unduh ria. Untung aja, masih punya tempat yang memberikan gue kesempatan untuk unduh lagu-lagu klasik.

Sempet kepikiran untuk bikin site sendiri, seperti yang orang-orang bikin, yang isinya beragam musik kegemaran mereka, malah mungkin lagu-lagu terbaru, kemudian mereka saved di rapidshare atau mediafire atau another free web hosting dan mereka post link tempat mereka saved those files. Cuma...kok gue ragu ya? Abis, gue ndiri 'kan juga ngambil/nyari lagu di tempat-tempat mereka, bukannya gue yang upload ndiri tuh files, karena gue punya CD-nya. Jadi rasanya gak fair aja, kalo gue gak melakukan upload files itu sendiri. Tapi lihat ntar deh...mungkin gue bisa jadi perpanjangan tangan mereka...mungkin gue bakal nanya sama salah seorang yang emang punya site ndiri...penasaran aja, apakah mereka emang bikin ndiri, yang berarti mereka nyari ndiri tuh lagu atau emang mereka nyari, kemudian mereka posting lagi di tempat mereka...

Hieh...sedih aja MP ilang...padahal isinya dah banyak :(

Eh...ternyata gue masih bisa unduh deh hehehehe...gue baru ngecek lagi tadi...ternyata gue masih bisa...hopefully sampe lama bisanya...
