Like always, dah liat nih buku entah dari kapan di Kinokuniya dan juga periplus, tapi pasti enggak pernah tertarik untuk beli. Mungkin memang belum waktunya kali ya hahaha...and what do you know...ternyata gue sukak juga dengan nih buku!! Sekarang tinggal gue yang gregetan menunggu book 2!! Mungkin itu juga kali ya sebabnya gue tidak begitu tertarik dengan buku ini...karena bersambung! Hieh....
Chloe, 15, has the ability to see dead people, but before she can figure out what is happening, she has a breakdown, is diagnosed with schizophrenia, and placed in a group home. She befriends some of the teens at Lyle House and tries to accept her treatment. However, two of her more mysterious housemates suggest that maybe she isn't crazy.
Derek tells her to look up necromancy on the Internet, and she finds out that it's the ability to communicate with the spirits of the dead. He appears to have superstrength,
and his foster brother has magical powers.
Chloe's roommate, who causes things to fly around the room when she becomes angry, is taken away to a hospital and never heard from again. When she returns in Chloe's visions, Chloe suspects foul play, a misgiving confirmed when the dead speak to her again and reveal that they were "supernaturals" who were experimented on,
killed, and buried in the home's basement many years before.

Mungkin yang bikin gue rada sebel adalah penulisannya menggunakan kata ganti orang pertama, yang berarti ditulis dari sudut pandang Chloe. Heran deh, kenapa kebanyakan buku-buku gue, terutama yang young adults punya sering banget pakenya kata ganti orang pertama??
Anyway, toh ini buku gue baca juga dan yah...gue suka juga :)...ceritanya mungkin enggah jauh-jauh dari tema yang memang sekarang sepertinya sedang hit, thanks to Twilight Saga. Tapi di sisi lain, gue sendiri ternyata memang cukup tertarik dengan segala supernatural things. Enggak melulu soal vampire or werewolf, sih, tapi juga tentang hal-hal yang bisa dibilang gaib lah. Something yang memang tidak ditemui sehari-hari, secara nyata. Paling enggak, tidak ditemui oleh gue, meskipun temen-temen gue cukup "sering" lah bertemu dengan hal-hal gaib.
Sekarang tinggal menunggu buku 2 The Awakening, versi paperbacknya, yang menurut Amazon.com baru muncul taon depan...hieh... :(
Buku kedua yang...cukup gue nantikan (tapi tidak pingin gue beli) adalah buku terakhir A Luxe Novel: Splendor.

So...ini buku, Splendor adalah buku terakhir. Diawali dengan The Luxe, kemudian Rumors, Envy, dan terakhir Splendor. Rasanya enggak perlu gue ceritain dari awal soal ini buku, intinya sih nih cerita mirip Gossip Girl, tapi dengan jaman yang berbeda, mungkin sekitar tahun 1900-an kali ya? Kalo masuk dalam kategori buku orang dewasa, maka mungkin bisa dimasukkan dalam kategori historical romance.
Dari awal baca buku pertama aja males, malah langsung ke bagian akhir, tapi emang sih sempet tertarik dengan intrik dan permasalahan yang terjadi sama tokoh-tokohnya. Apalagi di buku 3, endingnya cukup bikin gue penasaran. Dan sekarang nih buku akhirnya keluar juga.
Betapa kecewanya gue waktu baca review di amazon.com. Dapet 3,5 bintang dari total 6 reviews. Not bad lah ya...tapi gue jadi langsung males baca waktu ada yang nulis gini...
I was so thrilled to read the conclusion of the Luxe series... I just had this feeling that somehow, some way, Diana and Henry would be together, Penelope and Carolina would get what they deserve, and Elizabeth, who never had very much luck, would find some kind of happiness without Will. Instead, Diana ends up completely alone, Elizabeth suddenly is in love with Teddy (what?!), Carolina ends up as herself but still fitting perfectly into society, and Henry and Penelope end up still together in somewhat of an open marriage. This was not the way I envisioned this series ending... and especially not as rushed as it was. We spent 3.5 books rooting on Diana and Henry just for Diana to end their relationship with some silly "It's not you, it's me" kind of talk and Henry returning to the denseness he showed in the first book (pre-Diana). The epilogue was vague and the whole series was sloppily wrapped up. This book was such a terrible ending to such a great series... and was good, right up until the end. Sigh. I guess we can't always get our happy ending.

Tapi mengingat endingnya seperti ini, jujur bikin gue males baca. Mending gue baca yang lain dah...beneran deh. Mengecewakan :((
